A Low-Keyed Getaway with High Standards of Customer Service

My sister and I (she from Boston, me from Manhattan) met at the Tropical Breeze Resort on a whim, and ended up having a great time. That was in spite of a few flaws, though. To start with, the rooms are rather small, and they don't seem to be very clean. They're kind of superficially clean, but when we checked in, I didn't feel as though the room was as spotlessly clean as hotel rooms in the larger chains usually are. On the other hand, it's not some impersonal high-rise. The staff is very courteous and helpful and they seem eager to please. It's actually a collection of cottages, which my sister and I vastly preferred. Ours had a refrigerator, a microwave, a little kitchen, and a lovely patio. That meant we could cook for ourselves on the days and nights that we didn't feel like going out and paying for some high-priced resort food. I mean there were a lot of fun restaurants, but it was just nice to be able to stay in if we wanted. I also loved the fact that there was a complimentary hot and cold breakfast each day. And this resort is in a glorious location. It's a smaller resort, and it is just a few steps away from the most gorgeous Florida beach imaginable. It's an absolutely amazing beach - the sand is like flour. It's very close by, and it's so relaxing. We were there in September, so it wasn't too hot or too cold. We both loved it, and it felt like a real escape. Needless to say, it was hard to go back to the colder northern weather.
