Ski Lodge Offers Basic Stay

"Tonquin Inn is part of Decore Hotels. Located near the Canadian Rockies, the 137-room motor inn often caters to travelers out to take advantage of the natural attractions offered by nearby Jasper National Park, as well as the skiing. The inn is situated square in the town of Jasper, a cattle ranch turned resort area. Nearby is a railway station, and further out lies the ski bus stop for Marmot Basin.
Its Jasper sister hotels include the more upscale Chateau Jasper and Maligne Lodge. Tonquin offers rooms with kitchenettes at budget rates, although luxury suites complete with fireplaces and private saunas can be rented as well. The premises provide laundry facilities, an indoor swimming pool, two outdoor hot tubs, sauna, whirlpool, and a 50-person conference room. The inn has two eateries on site: the Tonquin Prime Rib Village and Nick's Bar and Lounge, which has an al fresco patio for summer dining.
The rooms can be a little rundown, given all the traffic that comes through. The staff can be a little overwhelmed during prime snow season and vacation breaks, and popular amenities like hot tubs -- a natural after a day of skiing -- can break down from demand. Other than that, the inn offers a serviceable stay in between outdoor adventures."
