Would Come Back Again
Review From: Anne Dupin, Jun 9, 2008
Back in November, 2005, three friends and I were planning a girls weekend from Rochester, NY to celebrate our 50th birthdays. Of the places to visit, Chicago was at the top of the list. Finding a hotel was a bit of an adventure, given that none of us had been to Chicago before, so I went online and started to read some reviews. Based on what I read about the Palmer House, I figured it would be a good location (close to Michigan Avenue) and it sounded like the rooms were nice, especially the 2 bathrooms/double room feature (a real PLUS when there would be 2 women in each room!!!!). Although we asked for an early check-in, when we arrived on 6/1/06 at 11:00 the room was not ready, which was fine. They said they would get us an adjoining room if we waited - PERFECT! We left our bags and headed off on Michigan Avenue. When we got back around 3:00, we were blown away by the beauty of our rooms - they were HUGE and very well appointed. With the exception of taking a taxi to the Apollo Theater, we walked every where else (up and down Michigan Avenue and over to the Navy Pier). We also took a city tour and were able to sign up right at the hotel and catch the bus just outside the hotel. We found a diamond in the rough with the wonderful Carson Pirie Scott department store just across the street. We spent 2 hours in there one morning (they have a FANTASTIC petite dept.) It was great just to be able to walk across the street to our hotel and drop our bags before heading out again. The ONLY downside to this hotel was the $16 I paid for a glass of wine at the bar. Otherwise, this was a PERFECT location for a girls weekend getaway in a wonderful town!!!!

Beautiful, Historic Hotel, But Rooms Worn Around the Edges
Review From: Aaron, Jun 9, 2008
This Hilton has a great location just minutes from Chicago's Magnificent Mile, and just a few short blocks from the Art Institute, Symphony Hall, the Architectural Foundation, and Millennium Park. It's got a fabulous lobby, decorated in a grand manor. It even has a harpist! So first impressions are that this is a very elegant place. But once you get upstairs to your room, things get a little run down. The rooms are older, and in need of updating. "Quaint" would be the tactful term. On the other hand, the bed is big and soft, and has a fluffy down comforter. Overall, this is a great older hotel with a grand, opulent feeling to it.

Fabulous hotel
Review From: Justin Snyder, Jun 9, 2008
This is a first class hotel, in a great neighborhood of downtown Chicago. It is right by the red line and brown line. Also, the lobby is perhaps the most elegant in Chicago. Security keeps watch at night, and the rooms are very large and very comfortable.
