Beware of parking scam
Review From: JTanner, Jun 9, 2008
Thanksgiving weekend, 2004: I stayed at Surfer Beach Hotel, paying extra for parking in their lot (this charge is not included in the room price. Even though my parking tag was displayed correctly, my car was towed from the lot. They have a deal with a towing company to take cars without checking with the hotel -- it cost me $250 to get my car back plus the cost of the taxi to take me to the lot (additional $15). There was evidence that a Slim Jim had been used on the car to get inside. When I got to the car, the parking permit was in full view on the console -- I had left it on the rearview mirror. San Diego Police Dept. has a parking task force-apparently this goes on all the time and they are powerless to enforce it because it was on a private lot. BEWARE: it you stay there, take a digital time-date photo of your car and parking permit, and then let the office know you have it!
