Elegance and Luxury at a Price
Review From: NexTag Editorial Review, Jun 9, 2008
One of the most distinguished hotels in Rome, the Rome Cavalieri Hilton sits atop a hill in a private 15-acre park offering beautiful panoramic views of the city below. The hotel employs a grand lobby, colored in red and gold and complete with spiral staircases and elegant sculptures. Lavish paintings, part of the hotel's highly esteemed private art collection, adorn the walls throughout the premises. The 371 guest rooms of the Rome Cavalieri Hilton are as opulent as its exterior. Each spacious room is stylishly furnished with Italian wood furniture and soft pastel colors. All rooms are equipped with balconies, perfect for taking in the view. (Be sure to request a room with a city view or you might get stuck with a view of Rome's giant television antenna.) The Rome Cavalieri Hilton offers so many amenities and services, it is considered a resort in itself. The health and fitness center provides 20,000 square feet of facilities including saunas, indoor and outdoor pools, and fully equipped gyms. Two red clay tennis courts are available for tennis enthusiasts. Even the gardens surrounding the hotel are an attraction. A half-mile nature trail runs along the hotel's perimeter, perfect for jogging. Though the Rome Cavalieri Hilton provides the highest end service and accommodations, it does not come without its price. Rates are high, and deservedly so, but you also have to pay for almost every service. Guests are charged fees to use the health club, tennis courts, and pools. The prices of simple things, like a can of soda, is 10 times what you will pay at another hotel. Another disadvantage is the hotel's distance from the city. Located 4 miles from Rome's center, walking is not an option. The hotel offers a free shuttle service into the city but the last pickup of the night is 9 o'clock - a time that may be too early for those enjoying the nightlife of Rome.
