Description
Live your dreams and come to a Montana Dude Ranch! See what cowboy life is all about by riding horseback in country that combines the best of mountains, valleys, open spaces and 200 mile views. Rocking Z is located between Great Falls and Helena. The Wirth family have been ranching the Little Prickly Pear Canyon since 1872 and have been welcoming guests since the year 2000. They share their passion for the land and the horse, making memories and new friends.
Have you always wished you could learn to ride? We will teach you how to be comfortable around your horse. You will understand how horses think. Why horses behave in certain ways. You can learn as much in a week as in a year of weekly lessons.
Children will have a vacation they will cherish and remember. Children learn to be the horses friend and leader. Accompanied by experienced guides, rides are determined by individual skills level.
Children play games, swim in the creek, explore and enjoy what living on a ranch is really like. The Rocking Z has 8 guest rooms in 2 buildings. The rooms are large with king, queen, or twin beds and each has its own bathroom. Half of them are air conditioned, the others have fans. There is a central lodge where meals are eaten family style and there is a fireplace and TV room. Meals feature beef, chicken, or pork served with potatoes, rice, or pasta, vegetables, salad, fresh bread, and homemade dessert including pies, cakes, cheesecake, and specials.
A morning favorite is a family pancake recipe. The Rusty Horseshoe Saloon is a game room with the look of an old time saloon with a bar, pool table, foosball, and card tables. There is a local beer on tap there.
In the late afternoon enjoy skeet shooting, horseshoes, riding lessons, a shopping trip to Helena, or a 2 hour boat trip through stunning limestone cliffs at Gates of the Mountains. Evening entertainment includes local history stories, fiddle music, singing, campfire, and western dancing.
