Would not visit again
Review From: ewhitaker@wcwebs.com, Jun 9, 2008  | See All Reviews
We expected much more than what we found. Because its the "water park of America" and they claim to be the biggest, we were expecting to find a "huge' water park, but instead it was actually rather small. Valley Fair has a much bigger water park. Check in for the hotel was not until 4pm which means if you're bringing little ones, you don't have much time. You also had to check out by 11am, which is normal, and you could stay until 4pm the following day in the water park if you wanted. We paid $244 for a room that slept 6. For what we got I didn't feel it was worth it. The beds were uncomfortable and the rooms too hot. Not enough pillows and blankets. The restaurant had nice decor, but the food overpriced. Most of the staff there did not seem to know much - perhaps maybe because they had only been open two weeks when we visited. I just had the impression that they were not trained in well enough before open. They dropped and broke things four times during our dinner. Some of the lifeguards did not look to be much older than 12-13 - kind of wondered about that... The decor was not bad but did not give that warm feeling - I expected a much more woodsy look, perhaps with some knotty pine or something similar. Regardless - you would be better off just visiting for a day and staying with friends or in another hotel.

Over priced and over rated. Will not go back.
Review From: Frank, Jun 9, 2008
For the man who built this place to tell everyone and advertise this place as America's largest indoor waterpark is a total delusion of grandure. How reidiculous. Any number of parks in the dells out size this place. It lacks design and management. we will not be going back after one visit. The only way I can caracterize this proeprty is "bait and switch". Finally, I read the other reviews here and because they are so decisively over the top and "phoney" in tone, I suspect some of the nicer ones were written by managers or employees of the park. Also, we spoke to staff people who had nothing but negative things to say about how terribly they are treated. Not interested.

Loved this hotel.
Review From: David , Jun 9, 2008
We stayed for two nights three weeks after it opened and my wife and kids had a fantastic time. I would definitely go again. The water park theme and hotel was themed so fun! We have taken our famy to Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon in Disney World and while we know that no one could ever top that, we were impressed with the Grand Lodge water park anyway. Fun is still fun. My wife and I were impressed that it was not "over-done" or cheesy. We thought the rest food was excellent and very reasonably priced for the quality. Our waitress was so polite and professional that we complimented her to her manager. I have been to the Dells three time over 15 years and I'd rather stay in town for the weekend than waste $150 for gas to get to the Dells and be overwhelmed by cheesy hotels and parks.
