Just Not a Happy Place to Stay
Review From: NexTag Editorial Review, Jun 9, 2008
Unfortunately, I have to say this hotel is not a happy place to stay. On the one hand, the staff seems very cooperative and accommodating. Where many hotels miss this mark, the Gatlinburg seems to provide consistently good service. The only mark against the staff (and this might be from management) is their inability to take room requests. As I will explain, some rooms are better than others. The Gatlinburg Days Inn & Suites is a short walk from downtown and a reasonable drive to Dollywood. The main problem with the Gatlinburg Days Inn & Suites is that you are not getting what you expect for the price you pay. You would expect the plumbing to work. The hot water is spotty and the plumbing system is consistently the source of inconvenience. Add to this, the fact that the bathrooms are on the smallish side. The staff, to their credit, compensates for these problems by acting quickly. However, it seems that the management is counting on visitors being so thankful to have a room during busy months that they will overlook these things. The good news is that these problems can be easily addressed. With the solid staff and a few key decisions from the management, this hotel has the potential to rate much higher.
