The Marriott Newport has much to offer guests. The hotel is close to beaches and tourist attractions. The airport is also within a reasonable distance. The hotel can be hit or miss. At times, the staff is great and visitors rave about the good service. The problem is the inconsistency. The hotel needs a few key turnovers to reach and exceed the level of service one would expect from a Marriott property. Unfortunately, a very small percentage of staff can bring down what could be a great group of service professionals. The Marriot Newport is not laid out very well. Most rooms overlook the lobby or city, leaving less than 25 rooms that have a harbor view. There is a piano in the lobby so the inner room can be a bit noisy, but the staff is good about enforcing quiet hours. It is recommended that you request an outer room.
