No-Frills Times Square Hotel Perfect for Budget Traveler
Review From: rudnak, Jun 9, 2008
Travelers can expect two things when staying in a New York City hotel: higher rates than what one would pay elsewhere, and small rooms.
The Mayfair is certainly no exception. And for the price, it is certainly exceptional.
Its location¿in the heart of the theatre district and Times Square¿is perfect, especially for first-time visitors.
Words like ¿European style¿ and ¿charming¿ might apply, as it is an older hotel. But no matter how one spins it, the bottom line is that the rooms are small. Period.
The views are non-existent. Room service, at-your-beck-and-call customer service, etc.: also non-existent. Most simply, this is the definitive travelers-class hotel: a place to leave your stuff and get some sleep in between exploring New York City.
Despite being a no-frills hotel, the Mayfair¿s rooms are clean and tidy, the staff is very knowledgeable about their beloved city, and along with Times Square, dining and transportation are right outside the door.
Yet even with its centralized location, travelers have said that noise is surprisingly minimal.
Located in the heart of New York City, the Mayfair is 17 miles from Newark International Airport, 10 miles from LaGuardia International Airport, and 19 miles from Kennedy International Airport.
