arby Railroad Tracks and Intermittent Cleaning can Rattle an Otherwise Good Inn
Review From: editorialreviews@nextag.com, Jun 9, 2008
"The inn is near major centers of transportation, which means both good and bad. It's conveniently near the airport (five miles) and Tyndall Air Force Base (10 miles), but it also lies within earshot (and vibrating distance) of the railroad tracks, where the freight trains faithfully make their deliveries several times a day. Book the place if you only want a place to rest your head at night, and try to get a room on the other side of the inn.
Typical of the La Quinta chain, this inn offers freebies like its continental breakfast, including its signature waffles, parking, local phone calls, and newspapers. Less typical are the fitness center, pool and game room, albeit modest. Be warned also that the equipment may not be working at the fitness center; in fact, complaints of things not working (including the maids) happen more often than they should. On the up side are the attractive gazebo, spa, and outdoor pool for cooling off in the moist heat. The rooms seem comfortably sized, but again, you may need to request more frequent cleaning. Fortunately, the staff is largely polite.
Florida State University lies about five miles away (which may or may not explain the presence of young rambunctious guests), as do Shipwreck Island Waterpark and Marina Civic Center."
