Lavish Oasis with Business in Mind
Review From: editorialreviews@nextag.com, Jun 9, 2008
"The physical reminders of Beirut's civil war are disappearing, and certainly the grandeur of this renovated landmark would make it seem as though discord had never settled upon this ancient port city. The 1960s hotel had a makeover in 2000 that resulted in a splendid mix of European decor overlaying Middle Eastern palatial architecture. This is definitely a place not for the faint of budget: Chandeliers glitter, staircases sweep, and pillars all impose to create beautiful comfort in this very popular getaway for French travelers and Middle Eastern guests.
Amenities such as Internet access in all of the 446 rooms and 78 suites, as well as a cracking business center and attentive service, are just a few criteria that won the hotel chain the Best Business Hotel in Beirut Award. While some feel the appeal to the business traveler has stripped some of the personality of the old days, others still flock here to be seen. The indoor and outdoor pools and enviable health center provide a respite for both vacationers and business guests. Other offerings include an onsite hairstylist, golf, lounge, and restaurants serving French and Lebanese cuisine.
The 22-floor lodging is a little more than six miles from the Beirut International Airport. It's very nearby the Artisans du Liban et d'Orient, a shopping extravaganza of locally produced products with international sophistication. "
