Fun, but Not for the Whole Family

The Hyatt Regency Cancun has much to offer the international traveler/vacationer. There are restaurants, soothing ambience, an exceptional cleaning staff (be forewarned, tipping does help), and two pool areas. Unlike many resorts, over-crowding doesn't seem to be a terrible problem. The hotel is located near Pascal's, a restaurant that comes recommended. For young students and professionals, this hotel is well worth every penny as long as you don't expect too much. When first researching this hotel, the reports can be confusing because everyone hated the experience or loved the experience so much they vowed to return. The first culprit could easily be the staff. Upon further consideration, the problem becomes painfully evident. The major problem with this hotel is that the Hyatt wants it to be all things to all guests. The hotel is advertised as family-friendly and more specifically, offers VIB (Very Important Baby) services. On the other hand, it is a hot spot for college students on vacation. The result is that families with young children arrive during summer and spring break months and are appalled at the condition of the rooms, the loud party music, the ill-informed staff, and the scantily clad fellow guests. Had these families arrived a couple of months earlier or later, their experience would have been serviceable. For example, finding a replacement baby bottle or getting hot water for formula should not be a problem.
