Great Location - Right Price

If you are visiting Chicago to enjoy the city, why spend mega bucks on a luxury hotel? Hotel 71 is PERFECTLY located right next to the intersection of Michigan Ave. and Wacker Drive. Everything downtown is within walking distance or right near a bus or train line. Okay, so it's not the most luxury hotel and didn't have many ameneties (room service only, no on-site restaurant, no pool), but good food is so close in Chicago and who really goes to Chicago to swim in the hotel pool? Very safe area. River-view rooms available. Clean. Friendly and helpful staff. My teenage son and I travelled there for spring break and we loved it. Could not have asked for more and the price was right.

This hotel fraudulently charged my debit card $70 for parking at their hotel. I have explained on 4 occasions that I did not park there or authorize this charge. They keep telling me they'll refund it, then do nothing. Now I have to go to my bank to file a claim. Otherwise, their 'swankiness' was much more in style about 10 years ago. The shower didn't drain or hold a consistent temperature. The coffee maker in the room didn't work. Overall, the worst hotel I've ever stayed at, and that includes several rat-traps in Bangkok. I can't believe they can stay in business in the loop.

We stayed there a couple months ago and I've been meaning to write and compliment you on your staff member, Michael Workman. He was the most helpful, personable person and went out of his way to make our stay uncomplicated and wonderful. You've got a gold mine in this young man and we hope to see him next time we're in Chicago.

POOR MANAGMENT!

I have stayed at this hotel twice and both times was not a good experience. The first time I had my personal pillow case stolen from off my own pillow while the room was beeing cleaned. I tried several times to speak with the manager about it but my calls were never returned. The second visit which was a few months ago I had won tickets to a concert and a room at this hotel. I had to put a deposit down on the room which they never returned! Once again failing to return my calls!!!! Be careful if you choose this hotel! They like to keep what is not theirs! Poor management!

We were offered a lake side view at no extra charge, the room had a beautiful, gorgeous view of the city and the lake. We are already booked to stay here again this year!
