A Great Value on the Water, and Friendly Service to Boot!
Review From: NexTag Editorial Review, Jun 9, 2008
When my husband and I were in Halifax, my only requirement for lodgings was that we stay on the water, which ended up giving us only one choice: The Hotel Nova Scotia. It looked very nice from the outside, and we thought the price was reasonable, so we checked in. They gave us a big room with a nice view of the harbor. It also had a king-sized bed, which we luxuriated in (we only have a queen at home). This hotel is also very centrally located, and there's a lot to do as soon as you walk out the door. We stayed two nights, and bought a package deal, which included gaming tokens and a hearty buffet breakfast. Another thing that makes this hotel so nice is its staff - they alone deserve five stars! They were not just helpful with the usual things; they were truly friendly and really paid attention to us. So when I asked them about good places to visit nearby, all three people at the reception desk had ideas about great historic sites to see and restaurants we had to go to. And their suggestions were excellent! The seafood in Halifax is to die for, and the restaurants we sampled were delicious. And even the staff in each of the restaurants was great - there must be something in the water in Halifax. We can't wait to visit again.
