A City Within a Glass Atrium
Review From: NexTag Editorial Review, Jun 9, 2008
Located only 5 minutes from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center is a popular tourist attraction for leisure travelers and convenient for business travelers. The Grapevine Mills outlet mall and Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World are located only a mile away. Downtown Grapevine, situated two miles away, features many specialty shops and restaurants. The ranch-style hotel features a nine-story glass atrium with more than four acres of indoor gardens and a flowing river. Shops and restaurants are located along the river giving an ambiance similar to San Antonio's famous Riverwalk. Guests can relax in the 25,000-square-foot full-service health spa, complete with 14 treatment rooms and a hair salon. The fitness center offers state-of-the-art exercise equipment and an indoor lap pool. An outdoor pool with spa tub waterfalls is also available. The big draw for business travelers is the 400,000-square-foot convention center connected to the hotel. In addition to the convention center, the hotel also offers 70 meeting rooms, a 5,000-person ballroom, and a business center with secretarial services. The 1,511 guest rooms feature views of the interior atrium or outside surrounding areas. The décor is Southwestern to go with the ranch house theme. Amenities include refrigerators, multiple phone lines, high-speed Internet, and laptop rechargers. The walls, however, are quite thin so noise from other rooms does travel. Valet parking is available but guests who opt to do their own parking are subject to a long walk from the parking lot to the hotel. Overall, with its unique style and many entertainment choices, this resort is a worthwhile visit.
