Full of Disney Charm and Memorabilia
Review From: NexTag Editorial Review, Jun 9, 2008
Opened in 1955, shortly after the premiere of the Disneyland park, the Disneyland Hotel is the Mouse's first and most nostalgic hotel. Disney memorabilia is scattered throughout the hotel, from lobby to guest rooms, honoring Disney history. The 1,052 guest rooms and suites, located in three high-rise towers, all feature attractive blond-wood furniture and views of downtown Disney and its surrounding koi ponds and gardens. Glow-in-the-dark "pixie dust" is sprinkled on all ceilings to create a sparkling visual treat when the kids lie down to sleep. The main attraction of the hotel is the Neverland Pool Complex, a Peter Pan-themed pool with a 110-foot water slide. Those who want a calmer environment will enjoy the Cove Pools - two quieter pools with its own private beach and playground. Five restaurants provide a variety of dining options, including Goofy's Kitchen where kids can dine with their favorite costumed Disney characters. The only drawback is that this family-oriented hotel isn't smoke-free. Smokers are allowed to smoke at the outdoor pools and the resulting smoke can permeate the area. Overall, the Disneyland Hotel is a worthwhile stay for that complete Disney experience.
