If comfort and safety are not an issue, then this is your hotel!
While it is difficult to find
reasonably priced hotel accomodations
in the DC area, I suggest you put a
higher price tag on your comfort and
safety.
COMFORT: In my room the phone was
broken, the coffee maker was missing
the carafe and filter basket, the alarm
clock was gone, the iron/board was
gone, regardless of the setting the A/C
unit blew hot air, the dressing mirror
was leaning against the TV instead of
hanging on the wall (where it was at
one time). In my travel-mate's room
was missing many of the same items
(alarm clock, etc.) and in addition,
his A/C would either blow hot air, or
just not at all. His call to the front
desk was futile (they refused to remedy
the situation) so he decided to fix it
himself. When he pulled the cover off,
he found rodent parts trapped in the
A/C filter.
SAFETY: I'm a city-kid with urban
survival skills and I found it a bit
troubling that the local drug dealers
and "working girls" didn't even wait
for dark to be on the corners. My
travel-mate is a country boy and was
awakened two nights running by not-so-
distant gun-shots and sirens.
