My husband and I were married February 4, 1974. To celebrate our 20th anniversary, we decided to go to Carolina Beach for a long weekend. We have friends in Carolina Beach, and they were eager to celebrate with us. But we still wanted to get our own hotel room. We both do a lot of business travel, and have been very impressed with the other Marriott Courtyard properties in the U.S. So we felt confident making reservations here. But we were surprised by what a nice hotel this was! Very upscale and nicely designed. And the hotel's staff is wonderful. They treated us well, and I saw them treat other guests graciously as well that weekend. When we first checked in, the reception staff knew it was our 20-year anniversary, and they were wonderful about it. The manager left us a bottle of champagne, a big basket of fruit, cookies, and other goodies in our room. Everything was perfect. Our room on the 10th (top) floor faced out on a spectacular view of the ocean, and was just gorgeous. The hotel has two pools, one indoor and one outdoor. We enjoyed those, and we loved the live music on Friday night. The Courtyard has its own restaurant, which was great. We had lunch there twice. Overall, we had a lovely time. This is not an inexpensive property. But it's beautiful, its location is great, and the staff is the best. We were very impressed.
