The Perfect Place for a Beachfront Class Reunion

When my three best friends from college and I decided to have a mini class reunion for ourselves last April, we decided to head to our favorite spring break destination of years past: St. Padre Island. We all graduated in 1991, and we felt long overdue for Spring break. None of us had been to the La Copa Inn, but we'd seen it, and heard it was fun. And we loved the fact that it was right on the beach. One of my friends was so sweet: Her plane landed before any of ours, so she headed to Wal-Mart and bought four beach chairs to surprise us with! That was great, because it costs $20 to rent beach chairs! And we planned to do a lot of beachside lounging that week. As we already knew, there is not a lot to do on South Padre Island. That was fine with us - we just wanted a week of serious tanning and eating out. OK, and drinking a few margaritas. Our rooms (we got two doubles) were nice, they each had a view of the beach, and they had microwaves and refrigerators. The hotel's restaurant was great - especially the breakfast. The waffles are fantastic. We left the La Copa a little fatter and a lot happier, and we plan to do a spring break trip once a year from now on!

Me and my wife stayed at this hotel for one week , and had a great time. The weather was warm ( Nov. ) the hotel was clean and priced very reasonably.Walk thru the hotel to pool to beach was very convenient. Also enjoyed the free breakfast and happy hour ( beer and wine. ).

La Copa Inn Beach Resort was a wonderful place to stay. It's a clean hotel and the staff was welcoming, friendly, and ready to help throughout each stay. It's always my first choice when looking to stay at SPI. P.S. The Price is great too!

Our first stay at La Copa Inn was great. We had a Jacuzzi room and the kids loved it. The room was very spacious and it met our needs. My husband and I stayed again 1 yr later in 2005. During the Sand Castle days, we loved it. We occupied an ocean view room, and the sunrise and view were spectacular. I was expecting a small room, but I was surprised. What I really enjoyed were the movies at 8 pm in the conference room, with the large projector screen.

This hotel room was just as described by Stephen who took my reservation. Beautiful view of the gulf with private patio, living area, 2 double beds, desk, micro, refrig. I arrived after labor day. For someone that loves the ocean and to get away - this is place for you. Stephen is a great asset to this hotel. I will be back.

Bad and sad experience

We stayed at La Copa for 5 nites and had the most awful experience ever. The first nite in our 3-bedroom family suite on the 4th floor, the two bedrooms were extremely warm. Then they brought us fans for the rooms. The second nite, the water was cut off while taking a shower. The 3rd nite, our toliet in one of our bathrooms overflowed. The fourth nite, we came back from Schlitterbahan and find out that my son's Sony PSP and PDA along with DVDs and CDs and his Sony Walkman and games and also an experience pocket knife with memory stick and memory cards had all been stolen. By the 5th nite, we could not even find ice in the ice machines at all. This was just a horrifying experience for visiting South Padre for the first time. We were always going to Port Aransas, but everyone had told us to go to South Padre cause it was a nice beach to swim in and the beach was beautiful. I do have to admit that the property was excellent and that there were very nice staff there along with the property manager and a very considerable manager. But for what we paid, it was not worth the stay for what we went through.

A Beachfront Hotel with Easy Access to the Local Landmarks

My kids and I have stayed at the Copa Inn three times now. It's a great place to stay on South Padre Island - small enough that it retains some of the local character, and centrally located. It's also right on the beach, with easy access to local attractions like the Schlitterbahn water park, Sea Ranch Marina, horseback riding, and miniature golf. We're an active family, and this hotel appeals to both me and my kids. We'll definitely be back.
